About Program
The 120-hour Advanced TESOL certificate is perfect for teaching English abroad, teaching English online, and teaching English in Canada. This course is recognized by TESL Canada for their Professional Standard 1 certification (Equivalent to CELTA / Trinity CertTESOL) on completion of a separate 20-hour Practicum.
The main feature of this advanced 120-hour TESOL course is the lab section in the methodology module, where students learn to complete 3 detailed lesson plans using different communicative and task-based lesson planning formats such as PPP, ESA, and TBL for different levels. The lab assignments is what makes OnTESOL different from other online TEFL courses. Another unique feature is the live lesson planning workshop, which is a series of four live group sessions to support students with the lab assignments in an interactive learning experience.

Response from OnTESOL
Thank you for your feedback, Meghan. A few months after you finished the online TESOL course, we upgraded our courses with the new LIVE 10-hour Lesson Planning Workshop. We saw that the original format of the online course was quite self-directed. Even though tutors are available to answer questions, our surveys indicated that sometimes students don’t know what to ask or would prefer to have a tutor explain the material in a lesson. For this reason, we launched the new workshop-style lectures, which are offered by our Senior Trainers via Zoom to explain the methods and lesson planning frameworks covered in the online TESOL course. During these live sessions, students can see more lesson plan examples, ask live questions, and participate in group activities to prepare for the lesson plan assignments. We highly recommend attending these live sessions for those who are completely new to teaching English and even to experienced teachers who are studying TESOL methods and lesson planning frameworks for the first time. 95% of those who participated in the workshop passed the lesson plan assignment in less than four weeks!
