Amazing cultural experience

My experience with Gotoco involved teaching Biology in an international school in Bangkok and then teaching English in a remote NGO school in Cambodia - one of a kind experiences that I wouldn't have ever done had it not been for this programme. Being culturally immersed into a culture completely different to your own is not only great for your personal development but also an exciting adventure. Having a TESOL course funded alongside is a hugely valuable bonus that required hard work but was worth it.

YMCA

Gotoco was a great experience! I met lots of new people from the host country and from my country. I was hesitant to go at first as I didn't know anyone, however everyone that I met on the program was in the same position as me and made each others experience great. From learning about different cultures to trying different foods, this was a completely new experience for me.

Not only do I feel a lot more confident now, I feel confident to travel on my own, and feel like I have the ability to work with anyone as the program gave me the ability to adapt myself to where I'm working.

Great experience

A Life-Changing Experience!

My experience of Bali and Hanoi with Gotoco was truly life-changing. The programme is such a brilliant deal which seemed too good to be true (i.e. you get to both travel across the world and gain valuable teaching skills at a low cost), and it has genuinely benefitted me in so many ways. I made so many friends while I was there, learnt valuable lessons, and saw some of the most beautiful scenery I have ever witnessed. I cannot recommend it enough. For anyone debating applying, I would strongly suggest that you go; it might just change your life too.

Pros
  • Great community
  • Beautiful scenes
  • Excellent learning opportunities
Cons
  • Some efficiency issues

Bali experience 2022

Overall the experience was great, the value of the project is amazing. If you are short on funding for a Tefl and want to travel, this course is perfect.

You will make great new friends from around the UK and the world, experience new cultures from the way people eat and spend time with family to big national festivals. I highly recommend.

When I was placed on the course it was one of the first programmes like it so there were some teething problems. Such as course management with the Tefl and sickness due to higiene as it is a less developed country.

Overall I think the project is worth it with Gotoco but they need to fix the management for the Tefl at LT&D as it is very disorganised for such a highly rated course.

Pros
  • Good value
  • Amazing experience
  • New friends
Cons
  • Bad food quality
  • Disorganised Tefl course

Thailand Programme - Couldn't recommend enough for any traveller

An amazing fully funded programme that lets you learn a new skill and see a new country. Cultural trips are organised on the weekends as well as trips before and after teaching, so the travel itch is scratched. Then in the week teaching in a school in Thailand which is as fun as it is rewarding.

The programme is fully funded which saves a tonne on flights and other expenses like accommodation, food and insurance. And beyond this it is great fun, have made friends for life in this unforgettable experience.

Pros
  • Well organised
  • Fun
  • Informative

One for the books!

This experience with GoToCo was definitely one of the best decisions I've ever made. Going into this trip, I was quite hesitant, as like everyone else, I assumed it was a scam so I didn't know what to expect. However, this trip definitely exceeded my expectations. From, meeting new people, to exploring Thailand and being able to immerse myself in another culture, it was all surreal. It's a fully funded trip with a government-funded TESOL qualification by the end of it and a chance to gain quality teaching experience. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking for a new adventure, whether it's solo traveling or with a group of friends, this is the perfect programme for you. Thank you to all the GoToCo staff for all their help and support!

Pros
  • Making Friends
  • Exploring another country
  • Fully funded with extra support

What an experience!

I just finished a 7 week program in Thailand with Gotoco and had a such a great experience. Joining a program is really beneficial and definitely gives you a chance to explore new places, meet new friends, learn different languages and a different perspective on life/yourself. It is a perfect gateway to start teaching English and Gotoco gives you all the resources you need to become a fully qualified TESOL teacher. There are also many great opportunities to travel and explore on weekends and the end of the program, whether that be on your own or with Gotoco. I had such a good time that I will be participating on another program next month!

Amazing experience

I think this program is brilliant. Its a small program so if I hadn’t have heard about it through university I wouldn’t have participated as it seemed too good to be true. But it really is different from other tefl programs on the market in that its fully funded as said. They book your flight, pay your accommodation and food (or provide a food stripend) and you get an amazing experience out of it. All you need to do is teach children English which is an amazing experience in itself, and complete your TEFL, which is also funded by gov grants. Then you get an added bonus of meeting new people, experiencing a new culture and having a couple days holiday when its all done!

Pros
  • Tefl
  • Accommodation
  • Travelling
