About Program

The Study Shami Arabic in Palestine program presents a valuable opportunity for those who want to learn and study Shami Arabic (Levantine Arabic, also known as Ammiya) and practice it with people in Palestine.

Shami Arabic is spoken by nearly 42 million people in four Arab countries: Jordan, Palestine, Lebanon, and Syria. The Shami is the most easily understandable dialect for people of the Gulf, or Arab countries in the northernmost areas of the African continent, such as Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, Egypt, and Libya. You will be able to communicate to a large audience of people by learning the Shami dialect.

The Study Shami Arabic in Palestine Program presents an optimal opportunity for acquiring Arabic skills. You are provided with all the learning materials you will need, and you will be taught by our experienced and qualified teachers.

Study Shami Arabic in Palestine

I stayed in Hebron for one month with a Palestinian host family and completed the intensive Arabic course at Go Palestine. I cannot even begin to describe my time here in Palestine, and how happy I am that I chose this experience. During my stay, I have traveled to Bethlehem, Jerusalem, Jaffa, Ramallah, and of course, Hebron. I have been invited to and attended weddings, other parties, and simple dinner and tea/coffee invitations. I have met so many lifelong friends, both from Palestine and other internationals at the center. I’ve had the opportunity to learn more about the occupation and Palestinian daily life through visits to several organizations, museums and refugee camps and, along with massively improving my Arabic skills.

Pros
  • Better your Arabic skills
  • Meet new people
  • Learn about Palestinian culture, history, struggles

Go Palestine's Arabic ONLINE program

The online Arabic program is perfect for anyone wishing to travel or communicate within the Levant. My teacher is passionate about her teaching and pupils, is extremely well prepared, encouraging and attentive. Each programme is customised to suit your particular needs and is flexible to suit your availability and commitment to language learning.
This new virtual program means that you can access this expertise from anywhere in the world whilst being taught by a local expert. In this way you also get wonderful insights into culture and real life.
I wholeheartedly recommend this program which has been excellent in both its organisation and delivery.
Thank you to my wonderful teacher in Hebron!

A wonderful experience in learning ِShami Arabic

I had a great opportunity to study Shami Arabic online with Go Palestine. Scheduling the classes with my lovely teacher has been easy and pleasant. All in all, I very much appreciate the teacher appointed to me, her knowledge and passion for the Arabic language, and all that she gave me. She labored on written materials just for me which is exceedingly generous.

I appreciate her teaching methods and am filling in some blanks and reinforcing basics I had acquired in Fus'ha, and now applied to Shami dialect.

Studying Shami Arabic with Go Palestine was such a joy. I am thankful for what they and their teachers provide!

Arabic online

My tutor Dua'a has been fantastic! Bearing in mind I am learning as a complete beginner (as well as learning online which presents is own set of challenges) my tuition has been fun, engaging, challenging and rewarding in equal measure.
My tutor has been exceptionally accommodating and supportive of my Arabic language journey. Arranging lessons was always easy and straightforward, and the content was always at just the right level to challenge me, but remain fun.
I look forward to having more lessons in the future.

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
If I could, I would come to Hebron in person! I hope to do so one day.

Marhaba!
My name is Francesco and I am a Lecturer in International Relations at the University of Derby, England. I decided to come to Palestine and Hebron particularly because I am interested in the politics of the place as well as the Arabic language. I had also visited Palestine on previous occasions and I was impressed by its friendly people and beautiful cities. Despite the negative stereotypes you might have heard about Palestine and Hebron in particular, it is a really safe place and an ideal environment to study Levantine Dialect.
My experience at the Palestinian centre has been very positive. I have taken the Intensive Arabic Course and I have seen great improvements in my language skills. I have spent only 2 weeks in Palestine this summer, but I would like to return later on for a longer period. The centre organizes interesting activities every day, so the programmes are also a great chance to learn more about the people of Hebron, Palestinian-Israeli relations and life under occupation. As someone that works in education, I am convinced that Go Palestine and the Excellence Centre offer a great formative experience for those interested in the Arabic language and in the culture, politics and history of Palestine
