Fulfilling internship experience!

Through Global Experiences, I gained a fulfilling internship experience with an international nonprofit. After a one-on-one call with a staff member from Global Experiences as well as detailed research by the Global Experience Team, I was matched with an organization that I was excited to work with and fit my interests. Live video check-ins with other interns and a Virtual Program Manager allowed me to make connections with other interns in the program and help me plan for my future career. At the end of my internship, I appreciated the opportunity Global Experiences offered me to reflect on my internship.

Pros
  • Remote work; Flexiblility

First and memorable internship experience

I have enjoyed this internship experience since the first meeting. I will say that the first few stages of cooperating with a representative from my own university was a rocky start but once I was placed with a company, and attended my first GE meeting, I felt welcomed and supported. Everyone that has led a meeting through GE was kind and considerate. They did their best at engaging everyone regardless of who may be shy or outgoing. I found all the students that were doing GE at the same time as me, were driven and respectful.

Through the Global Experience program, I was given the opportunity of working with a Costa Rican company as their social media marketer. I am very pleased with my multi-cultural experience!

An Experience to Remember!

The time that I had with Global Experiences was amazing! I had the opportunity to intern with a non-profit organization in Barbados where I was able to learn new skills, as well as improve the skills that I already had. Skills like updating website content, project management, website content creation, and many more.
Throughout this process, I was supported by Global Experiences with their daily check-ins and workshops. Global Experiences made me feel supported, and that I had someone who wanted me to succeed and feel comfortable with my time as an intern. It was such a phenomenal experience, I gained such confidence through this experience and I have Global Experiences to thank!

Internship Experience

My experience with Global Experiences was invaluable! I loved the way this entire experience was set-up. GE first provided their interns with "tools" which were great resources to have such as a strengths assessment, learning about workplaces around the world, and how to be a successful intern. Next they provided us with great guidance having a welcome and exit orientation, weekly-check in's, and a midpoint reflection with my host employer. This guidance really helped me become more self-aware, which was key on my entire journey to learn and grow as much as possible. Lastly, GE did a phenomenal job of networking. I was able to share my experience with other interns, learn through cultural events provided like: a cooking class, art tour, and city tour. I was able to network and increase my professional development through a strengths workshops and weekly-check ins

Pros
  • networking
  • resources
  • guidance

FUN TIMES

My time with Global Experience was great. I had the opportunity of being partnered with an NGO in Ethiopia, where I was able to learn and practice various skills. Examples are project management, time management, writing, research and summary skills. Global Experience also provided workshops to teach us how to use our time in our placement effectively. Carmen was also very helpful in helping me navigate any issues I encountered, which further enhanced my time at Global Experience.

I would recommend this program because it allows you to learn valuable skills and help you decide what direction you want to go in for your career. Global Experience can also help you troubleshoot any issues you may encounter. They are there to help and guide you, so do not be afraid to reach out.

Pros
  • Workshops
  • Good Partnering
  • Help from Carmen to navigate any issues

Great Virtual Internship!

I was very pleased and excited to accept the position of Communications Intern-Virtual for GE-AIFS. I was placed with a boutique company headquarted in Spain, being responsible for researching and writing content for blog posts, social media such as Instagram and for LinkedIn. It was a delight to work in the arts and culture industry where I became immersed in new artists, trailblazers who are women of color, as well as curators and directors of museums all while collaborating with the host company. I am very appreciative of the experience and am certain that this has broadened my horizons and expanded the reach of the host company. Thank you again for the experience--I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a virtual internship.

Pros
  • Flexible schedule
  • Great people
  • Relevant + Interesting Work
Cons
  • Internship time period was too short
  • Adjusting for the time difference
  • Scheduling difficulties

Great Experience!

I was initially nervous about this virtual experience because I had originally hoped to be able to travel for my international experience requirement but all of my worries were put to rest when I applied for this virtual experience. Right from the first day that I showed interest, I wasn't alone. They were constantly checking on me so I didn't feel lost. Carmen hosted meetings with us and while I wasn't able to attend all the time due to my schedule, She would send me emails to check up on me and make sure that I was doing well. At the end of the day, I found that I had no reason to worry in the first place. I will definitely be recommending this experience to everyone.
