About Program
Put your passion for marine life to a philanthropic cause that will make a significant impact on the African marine wildlife. Join our Great White Shark Conservation and Marine Ecotourism project in Gansbaai, South Africa and get the once-in-a-lifetime chance to meet the African Marine Big 5 (sharks, whales, dolphins, penguins, and seals) up close!
You'll be part of the dedicated team supporting ecotourism and will be spending most of your time on ecotourism boats - going on shark cage diving, whale watching, pelagic bird watching, educating tourists on marine wildlife conservation, and learning basic seamanship.
Make it your ultimate volunteer experience as you enjoy your stay in the world's Great White Shark capital, exploring the incredible wonders of Gansbaai and connecting with the community.

Program Impact
ECO-TOURISM
Volunteers will spend most of their time working on ecotourism boats either doing shark cage diving, whale watching, or pelagic bird watching. Volunteers will also teach guests about the importance of marine conservation, the African marine wildlife species, and the threats they face.
MARINE WILDLIFE CONSERVATION
Make a significant contribution to important marine research and conservation work through collecting data, and participating in community outreach initiatives, and supporting ecotourism.
SHARK DIVING & RESEARCH
Take the opportunity to go shark cage diving in Shark Alley to study and monitor great white sharks, making a vital contribution to the ongoing research and conservation efforts.
BASIC SEAMANSHIP
Volunteers will be taught basic skills including boat handling and general maintenance, as well as assist in giving talks and videos on marine biology, research, and shark tourism.
