Job Description

Do you love meaningful travel? Are you a natural storyteller with a knack for making others as excited about something as you are? Do you have a passion for content creation and a curiosity for learning within a fast-paced startup environment of mission-driven travelers?

We’re hiring a Content & Community Intern to help support our core marketing initiatives, connect with our ever-growing Go Overseas community, and create engaging digital content. In this role, you’ll work cross-functionally to implement marketing strategies that bring new prospective travelers to the site, encourage return visits, and spread brand awareness.

From crafting inspiring videos about studying abroad to leading community members to find the program of their dreams, you’ll grow your digital marketing skills while helping our community get excited about perspective-changing travel. Your day-to-day will be as varied and exciting as the programs on Go Overseas! Our Content & Community Intern will report directly to our Outreach Coordinator & Content Creator, Ashley Williams.

Your core responsibilities:

  • Create engaging social media content that reflects the Go Overseas brand via multiple channels
  • Respond to community questions via emails and DMs on social media
  • Connect with community members to highlight and showcase unique travel stories
  • Learn how to monitor and increase engagement metrics
  • Assist with user research and stay up-to-date with market/industry trends
  • Collaborate with our Product & Partner Growth teams to help manage our marketing calendar
  • Attend monthly content team meetings and weekly 1:1s with your manager

Requirements:

  • Cares intensely about helping more people study, live, work, and travel overseas.

  • Interest or skills in YouTube video creation
  • Experience with customer support and/or community engagement
  • Interest in learning how to manage multi-platform social media calendars with Later (Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube)
  • Proficiency with or strong interest in learning Canva, Google Suite, and Mailchimp
  • Initiative to take on new projects and bring fresh ideas to our start-up team culture
  • Communicative and comfortable with remote work on a distributed team
  • Ability to commit to ~10-15 hours per week (between the hours of 9am and 5pm PST) for 4-5 months with an ideal start date sometime in April 2023

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Firsthand experience with one or more of the following is a plus (but not a requirement!): studying abroad, working abroad, teaching abroad, interning abroad, volunteering abroad, living abroad, and/or taking a gap year
  • Current student, recent graduate, or bachelor’s degree in marketing, journalism, business, public relations, communications, new media, design, education, global studies, international relations, or other related field
  • Experience with Excel/Google Sheets to track marketing KPIs, analyze data, & inform strategy
  • Familiarity with key company systems: Google Suite, Asana, Mailchimp, Slack, Canva, Later, HubSpot, Google Analytics, Zoom webinars

Location: Remote. The selected candidate will collaborate with our west coast team members.

Contract details:

  • $15/hr, up to $4,000 for 5 months of work
  • Potential for an extended and/or expanded contract into fall 2023, dependent upon company needs and performance
  • Potential for academic credit, dependent upon request and academic requirements
