About Program

Frontiers Abroad offers four exciting and unique semester-long programs. These New Zealand-based experiences emphasize hands-on learning and engaging research projects.

Semester 1 programs (January to June): Geology of New Zealand or New Zealand Earth Systems. Both programs combine a 5-week field camp along with a semester spent on the University of Canterbury or the University of Auckland campuses.

Semester 2 program (Late June to November): New Zealand Earth Systems Fall. This program kicks off with a 10-day field session focusing on the recent Christchurch earthquakes, the recovery and rebuild, and other critical environmental issues (ie: climate change, agriculture and pollution).

**Note: Transcripts for all Frontiers Abroad programs are provided by Lafayette College, our US school of record.

Frontiers Abroad Geology New Zealand

I both studied with Frontiers Abroad in 2012 and was a TA for them in 2014. It's an incredible program looking at glaciers, earthquakes, geothermal systems, and volcanoes throughout both islands in New Zealand. Studying in the field and classroom with professionals, graduate students, and professors ensures that everyone learns technique and theory behind many of today's most important geologic criteria.
