Fashion Media and Communication Program Experience

An incredible experience, learned a lot about the industry and how fashion is not only garments but also culture, experiences, art. The tutors are amazing they share their knowledge with you and guide you in your work. The mandatory classes are amazing you learn a lot about the city, fashion and your classmates. To me the best class was fashion photography, the tutor lets you take the photos the way you want, explore the camera and find your own style. I definitely recommend this program if you want to expand you fashion vision and as well meet people from other parts of the world

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
Applying for an internship while I was there, I would be a good option since its a fashion capital; I didn't do iy but I highly recommend it.

Semester Abroad at UAL LCF

The classes were a lot of work but definitely paid off in the end. I liked all the welcoming programs towards the beginning of the semester as they helped me overcome any homesickness and meet other students in the program outside of our classes! I do wish during orientation there was a little bit more direction in terms of how the school is set up and our classes, as I felt that we were kind of just thrown into our classes and programs. Other than that, for the short three months abroad and for the first time being outside of the country personally, I definitely had a good time and learned a lot about myself and being outside the U.S!

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
I wouldn't be as afraid to try more experiences and step outside of my comfort zone, especially knowing if I had a shorter time abroad due to COVID.

New Experiences & Opportunities

Moving to London and attending LCF during my college career was an experience I will never forget. I was able to have hands on experiences with industry professionals and other fashion creatives, unlike my education in the US. I was able to work with other students around the world on projects that will be influential to my career and experiences in the fashion industry. It has been about 2 years since I attended LCF and I still discuss experiences I had there in job interviews. London College of Fashion gave me new opportunities I wasn’t able to have in the middle of cornfields and gave me a new perspective on my career and life in general.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Travel, try new things, and get out of your comfort zone. You never know when you’ll have an abroad experience again in your life so make the most of it!

Loved this program!

I highly recommend attending this program! It was truly a transformative experience, one that encouraged me to expand the way I think about art and artmaking. I felt fully immersed in the program and was not treated any differently from the local students. I did find London, in general, difficult to navigate safely - being followed home by strange men several times. Overall, though, I definitely recommend attending this program! It was really great.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
I'd definitely recommend doing one of the programs that is fully immersive into one of the college's programs rather than one that is full of solely other study abroad students.

LIFE CHANGING EXPERIENCE

Studying at UAL: LCF absolutely without a doubt changed my life ultimately for the better. The academic program was rigorous and insightful, with help of all tutors by your side. The culture, the academics and the endless possibilities made living in London and unforgettable experience. Due to my studies at LCF, I have been working in fashion for the last 5 years. I recently launched my own e-commerce company which we are now adding brick and mortar and I thank LCF for teaching me how to navigate this.

What would you improve about this program?
One thing I would improve is possibly extending the program for US students. I applied for my postgrad at LCF twice, but it’s difficult to come back to study. US students are only offered one semester when EU students are offered a year.
